Biochar is a soil amendment that assists nutrient cycling, sequesters carbon, and retains water on the landscape. Farmers and gardeners who utilize biochar see increased fertility and subsequent yields. Given our region’s legacy of natural fire patterns, Heartwood also incorporates biochar into restoration and greater land-tending practices. We currently offer two biochar opportunities.
